National Programmes

 

  1. Studies Undertaken

On behalf of National Commission for Women, Bharatiya Stree Shakti completed a study of `Women’s Safety’. This study was undertaken in four states Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi afterNirbhayaincident, to assess implementation of the law to prevent atrocity against women, like Criminal Amendment Act 2012 and various schemes launched by state governments to help victims of crime against women. This study covered cases of rape, acid attack and molestation. The study included information and experience of major stakeholders like police, public prosecutors, medical officers, Nirbhaya fund officers, social workers and victims. Bharatiya Stree Shakti has submitted a detailed report on Women’s Safety to National Commission for Women, New Delhi.

 

  1. Seminar

BSS organized a two-day national level consultative seminar on `Gender Smart City’ for representatives of Phase I smart cities under Smart City mission undertaken by Government of India. The national seminar was organized in New Delhi on November 17 and 18, 2016 in which 88 women representatives of 33 smart cities all over India participated. Various issue and research papers were presented on the different kind of facilities and services required for women population in Smart Cities. The seminar was attended by representatives of 8 state women commissions and Smart City Mission officers.

 

State-level Programme

 

  1. Seminar

BSS in collaboration with National Commission for Women organized a one-day consultative seminar on `Efficacy of laws pertaining to property and marital rights in different religions’ in New Delhi on 25th February 2017 and in Mumbai on 18th March 2017. Personal laws of Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Parasi religions were discussed. The report of the seminar will be submitted to the Government of India shortly.

 

  1. Maharashtra Prant Adhiveshan

Maharashtra PrantAdhiveshan was held in Pune on November 12th and 13th 2016. The theme of the Adhiveshan was `Technology and she’.  Eminent women entrepreneurs and leaders in the technology sector and international award winners participated and provided guidance to the women who came from all over Maharashtra for the Adhiveshan. Information on women’s contribution in technological field to the society was presented through an audio-visual. The sessions also covered subject like `Communal Harmony’, `Personal laws pertaining to women in different religions’ and ‘Indian Feminism’. A souvenir was published covering various subjects covered during the Adhiveshan.

International Women’s Day

 

Every year international women’s day is celebrated in all regions by conducting a variety of programmes. In Maharashtra, it was celebrated in Chiplun, Amaravati, Nagpur, Pune, Chandrapur and Dhule. Social workers were felicitated in Nagpur and Chandrapur. Various programmes were conducted in Indore, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Kerala.
